The European Club of Pediatric Burns was founded in 1991 in the Swiss Alps to meet once a year for a professional exchange. The aim is to improve the opportunities for treatment and rehabilitation as well as the quick return of patients to their social environment through productive discussions and constructive workshops.

The clinic for pediatric surgery in the pediatric hospital Amsterdamer Straße was established in 1963. As a result of the assassination of Volkhoven, 11.06.1964, in which a 42-year-old early retiree injured 28 children and 2 female teachers in a primary school with a home-made flamethrower, the center for burnt children was created.

Since then children with thermal injuries at the children's hospital Amsterdamer Straße Cologne have been receiving intensive care and pediatric burn-surgery as well as long-term follow-up care. In 1999 Dr. Slany, senior consultant for pediatric surgery including burn surgery, hosted the ECPB Congress in Cologne. In 2009 and 2017, the Pediatric Surgery Clinic conducted the annual meeting of the 'Workgroup The Seriously Injured Child'.

Cologne, located on the Rhine, is the 4th largest city in Germany with about one million inhabitants where history spans as far back as the Romans, when it was granted the city rights by the Roman Empress Agrippina in 50 AD. Today, Cologne is a modern economic center and cultural metropolis and offers gastronomic and cultural events.

We are glad to welcome you in our modern congress center Komed am Mediapark.

We look forward to a constructive and progressive workshop.

We are at your disposal for any further information.
